What Are the Main Precautions for Generator Set Inspection?
Time:2025-11-12
As the core equipment for emergency power supply, the operational stability of generator sets is directly related to the safety of power guarantee. When conducting inspection work, it is necessary to strictly follow standardized procedures and focus on the following key precautions to ensure accurate test results and safe operation.
Firstly, adequate preparations must be made before inspection. It is necessary to check in advance whether the appearance of the generator set has damage, oil leakage, looseness and other problems, clean up debris around the equipment, and ensure good ventilation. At the same time, confirm that the levels of fuel, lubricating oil and coolant are within the standard range, and the battery voltage is normal with firm wiring. In addition, complete safety protection equipment such as insulating gloves and goggles should be equipped, and ensure that testing instruments (such as multimeters, tachometers, power analyzers) are calibrated and fully functional to avoid affecting test accuracy due to equipment issues.
Secondly, core inspection items must be implemented one by one. After starting the generator set, conduct no-load operation inspection first, observe whether the speed is stable, whether there are abnormal noises or vibrations, and record key parameters such as exhaust temperature and oil pressure. Then carry out load testing, gradually increase the load to 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of the rated power, and operate stably for a period of time respectively. Monitor whether indicators such as voltage, frequency and power factor meet the standards, and check whether the exhaust color, heat dissipation effect and automatic switching function of the unit are normal. It is particularly important to note that the load should not be increased or decreased suddenly during load testing to avoid impacting the unit.
Thirdly, safety operation specifications must be strictly followed. During the inspection, operators should maintain a safe distance from the unit and are prohibited from touching high-temperature components and live terminals. For diesel generator sets, stay away from the exhaust port to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning; for gas generator sets, check for gas leakage hazards. If abnormal conditions such as abnormal noise, peculiar smell, overheating or overpressure occur during equipment operation, shut down and cut off power immediately, troubleshoot the fault before re-inspection, and never operate in violation of regulations.
Finally, inspection data and records must be completely retained. Detailedly record the inspection time, environmental conditions, unit model, inspection items and various parameter values, and mark the causes of abnormalities for indicators that do not meet the standards. After the inspection, sort out the inspection report, clarify the equipment operation status and maintenance suggestions, and provide a reliable basis for subsequent maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure that the generator set can be put into use at any time in emergency scenarios.
